Heute fanden am Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina die ersten Rennen des BMW IBSF Weltcups statt.
Das erste Rennen des Tages war das Skeletonrennen der Frauen. Janine Flock aus Österreich konnte sich mit 42 Hundertstel Vorsprung auf Tina Hermann aus Deutschland durchsetzen. 3 Hundertstel hinter der Deutschen platzierte sich Elisabeth Vathje aus Kanada. Auf dem 4. Platz landete Mirela Rahneva (CAN), die einen beeindruckenden zweiten Lauf absolvierte (+0,48 Sekunden). Die Top-6 wurden von Anna Fernstädt und Jacqueline Lölling (beide aus Deutschland) komplettiert. Die einzige Schweizer Teilnehmerin, Marina Gilardoni, landete auf dem 15. Platz (+1,49 Sekunden).

Im Anschluss an die Frauen fand das Rennen der Herren statt. Der Koreaner Sungbin Yun beeindruckte mit zwei tollen Fahrten und sicherte sich den Sieg mit 87 Hundertstel Vorsprung auf den Deutschen Axel Jungk. Der Lette Martin Dukurs sicherte sich mit einem Rückstand von 1,10 Sekunden auf Sungbin Yun die Bronzemedaille. Alexander Gassner (GER) landete auf dem vierten Platz und Alexander Tretiakov (RUS) bzw. Dominic Edward Parsons (GBR) belegten ex aequo den 5. Platz. Ronald Auderset (SUI) beendete das Rennen auf dem 20. Rang.

Today, the first races of the BMW IBSF World Cup took place at the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina.
The first race was the skeleton competition of the women. Janine Flock from Austria won with 42 hundredths ahead of Tina Hermann from Germany. 3 hundredths behind the German: Elisabeth Vathje from Canada. In fourth place finished Mirela Rahneva, who had a great second run (+0,48 seconds). The Top-6 were completed by Anna Fernstädt and Jacqueline Lölling (both from Germany). The only Swiss participant, Marina Gilardoni, finished in 15th place (+1,49 seconds).

After the women, the men had their race. The Corean Sungbin Yun impressed with two solid runs and finished 87 hundredths ahead of the German Axel Jungk. The Latvian Martin Dukurs won the bronze medal (+ 1,10 seconds). Alexander Gassner (GER) finished in fourth place and Alexander Tretiakov (RUS) and Dominic Edward Parsons (GBR) shared the 5th place. Ronald Auderset (SUI) was 20th.
