Bobsleigh: Gold for Hefti and Baumann (SUI)! Meyers Taylor and Gibbs (USA) back in women bobsleigh World Cup with a victory

Olympia Bob Run

Today the 2men/women bobsleigh competitions took place at the Olympia Bob Run. Team Meyers Taylor who left the World Cup before Christmas to go back to the USA, had an impressive comeback. After a victory in the Europe Cup last week, they won today again in the series of the best bobsleigh women teams in the world. In second place and at the same time winner of the European Championship: Team Schneiderheinze from Germany (+0,38). Team Humphries from Canada, the leader in the overall standing, finished also in the Top 3 (+0,76).
The podium of the European Championship is completed by Team Willemsen (BEL) and Team Schneider (GER). There was no bob from Switzerland in the women's competition.
After the women, the men had their race: Beat Hefti with Alex Baumann from Switzerland won the gold medal in the World Cup and in the European Championship competition. 18 hundreths behind the winners: Team Holcomb from the USA. In third position finished Team Walther from Germany who also won the silver medal in the European Championship. The bronze medal at the ECH was won by Team Arndt (GER).

Tomorrow the last race of the World Cup competitions will take place at the Olympia Bob Run - 29 teams from 16 nations (including the only 4women bob with Kaillie Humphries) will fight for the victory. Heute fanden am Olympia Bob Run die Weltcup-Zweierbewerbe (Damen und Herren) satt. Das Team Meyers Taylor, das vor Weihnachten den Weltcup verliess um in die USA zurückzureisen, feierte ein beeindruckendes Comeback. Nach einem Erfolg im Europacup letzte Woche, gewannen sie heute in der Serie der besten Bobfrauenteams der Welt erneut. Auf dem 2. Platz und gleichzeitig Gewinner der Europameisterschaft: Team Schneiderheinze aus Deutschland (+0,38). Team Humphries aus Kanada landete ebenso in den Top 3 (+0,76) und verteidigte die Führung im Gesamtweltcup.
Das Podium der EM wurde von Team Willemsen (BEL) und Team Schneider (GER) komplettiert. Kein Frauenbob aus der Schweiz war bei diesem Rennen am Start.
Nach den Frauen hatten die Herren ihr Rennen: Beat Hefti und Alex Baumann aus der Schweiz gewannen Gold im Weltcuprennen und in der Europameisterschaftswertung. 18 Hundertstel hinter den Siegern: Team Holcomb aus den USA. Team Walther aus Deutschland landete auf dem dritten Platz und sicherte sich gleichzeitig die Silbermedaille bei den Europameisterschaften. Bronze bei der EM sicherte sich Team Arndt (GER).
