Am Jahreskongress des internationalen Bob- und Skeletonverbandes (IBSF) in Prag präsentierte die Schweizer Delegation den Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina als möglichen Austragungsort für die IBSF Bob- und Skeleton-Weltmeisterschaften 2023.
Das Team von Damian Gianola, Geschäftsführer der einzigen Natureisbobbahn der Welt, überzeugte die Stimmberechtigten mit einer gelungenen Präsentation und somit erhielt die Schweiz bzw. der Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina einstimmig den Zuschlag für die Austragung der Bob- und Skeleton-Weltmeisterschaften im Jahr 2023. Damian Gianola freute sich sehr über diese Entscheidung: «Nach 2013 dürfen wir nun wieder 2023 die kombinierten IBSF Weltmeisterschaften im Engadin austragen. Wir werden Athleten, Betreuern und Besuchern einen unvergesslichen Event an der Geburtsstätte des Bob- und Skeletonsportes bieten. Wir möchten uns bei allen, die für uns gestimmt und uns unterstützt haben, herzlich bedanken. Zudem freuen wir uns sehr, dass neben der 'grossen' Weltmeisterschaft auch die Junioren Weltmeisterschaften 2021 an den Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina vergeben wurden.»
The Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships 2023 will take place at the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina
The swiss delegation presented at the annual congress of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) in Prague the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina as a possible venue for the IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in 2023.
The team of Damian Gianola, director of the only natural ice bob track in the world, convinced the federations with their presentation and so Switzerland and the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina were awarded unanimously to be the host of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in 2023. Damian Gianola was delighted about this decision “After 2013 we will have again the opportunity to host in 2023 the combined IBSF World Championships in the Engadine. We will organize an unforgettable event for athletes, coaches and visitors at the birthplace of bobsleigh and skeleton. We would like to sincere thank everybody who voted for us and supported us. Furthermore, we are really happy that it was decided that the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina will host beside the 'big' World Championships also the Junior World Championships in 2021."
